DeKeyser Elementary
School in Utica Community Schools is opening its doors to invite the entire
community back to visit and reminisce as part of its 50th birthday
celebration.
DeKeyser Elementary
School will host a celebration from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Friday, May 20 at the
school, 39600 Atkinson in Sterling Heights.
“Our neighborhood schools
are the focal points of an entire community, and we look forward to celebrating
50 years of the families and friendships that have their roots at DeKeyser
Elementary,” Superintendent of Schools Robert Monroe said.
The evening will feature
food trucks, a DJ and an opportunity to gather to share stories about the
school at a 7 p.m. reception in the school’s media center
“Our motto since the
beginning has been ‘where adventures never end,’ and never has that been more
appropriate as we celebrate 50 years,” principal Shannon Hathcock said. “We
look forward to seeing all of our past, present and future ‘Dolphins’ for an
evening to celebrate the difference DeKeyser Elementary has made in so many
lives.”
